Koi Secrets did not start as a business.
It started as a personal journey a hobby that slowly became an obsession.
Koi Secrets took shape during the Covid period, when the koi hobby experienced a renewed focus. As people spent more time at home, hobbyists began paying closer attention to their ponds and fish. Online koi auctions expanded rapidly, connecting keepers across locations and strengthening the community.
It was during this time that we recognised a clear gap — while koi had become easier to obtain, proper guidance on koi keeping, pond systems, and grooming remained limited.
Koi Secrets was created to share knowledge that had been developed over many years of personal koi keeping, pond refinement, and grooming experience.
Learning the Hard Way
Over the years, I stopped chasing “quick solutions”.
Instead, I focused on understanding:
How koi actually develop over time.
How pond systems affect their growth and skin quality.
How water stability plays a bigger role than most people think.
I spent time refining my own ponds, adjusting systems, observing changes, and learning through real results not theory.
There were no shortcuts. Only experience.
From Hobbyist to Award-Winning Results
After years of refinement, the results started to show.
My koi began to develop better body shape, stronger skin quality, and more stable colour.
Eventually, they were able to compete and win in koi shows across Japan and Asia.
These results were not achieved through luck.
They came from:
- Correct pond systems
- Consistent feeding approach
- Stable water conditions
- Patience over time
Even today, I still consider myself a hobbyist first.
An Integrated Approach to the Hobby
Pond building had always existed within B&B ID, but its scope stopped at construction.
With Koi Secrets, the approach became fully integrated — covering the complete koi journey:
Koi selection
Pond system design
Filtration stability
Grooming discipline
Biological support products
Long-term development environment
This integration addressed a key gap in the hobby: the structured grooming of koi.
Happy koi, happy owner. This is our motto.
Grooming Makes the Difference
Koi development is measurable over time.
Tosai (age 1), Nisai (age 2), and Sansai (age 3) stages clearly show how grooming environment affects growth, body, and skin quality. Well-designed ponds and stable filtration systems allow koi potential to unfold correctly. Without them, development remains limited regardless of genetics. Our experience confirmed a simple principle: Good koi require good systems.
